The gold price saw a decline of more than 3% during the first half of  the week. It touched the lowest point since beginning of this year during Wednesday’s trading session, being 1.527 US dollar. The gold price bounced back during the last two days of the week to close on 1.587 US dollar and 1.241 euros on Friday evening. That’s a gain of half a percent week-on-week. The silver price followed a similar pattern. Silver closed the week on 28.65 US dollar per ounce and 22.48 euros, which is very similar to the close of one week earlier. On Thursday and Friday, the downtrend in the gold price and silver price seemed to reverse. […]

Silver price Forecast: Dramatic Turnaround For Silver?

Silver price Forecast: Dramatic Turnaround For Silver?

Here are a few patterns that might explain the current state of the silver price, as well as, provide the possible way forward. Below is a 6-year chart of silver (all charts generated at fxstreet.com): On the chart, I have indicated two similar patterns (marked 1 to 5).This comparison suggests that silver could rise significantly over the next couple of months. This would mean that a dramatic turnaround in the price of silver is coming (it might have started already). I have also drawn some red lines at the $10, $20, $30, and $50 level. These levels appear to have acted like key levels, where the price of silver has […]

The truth about gold : it can not lie

The past years have characterized the financial markets as volatile, leveraged but also intransparent. Complex financial instruments have flooded the markets. At the same time, the impression we get from governments is they are doing their utter best to “hide” some facts, surely if it comes to economic related matters. This is our perception, as observers of markets. Let’s review some recent examples where service providers or governements mastered intransparency but where they failed to hide the truth. First and most recent, JP Morgan announced initially 2 billion losses on some “trades”. Only a week after their first announcement, it appears their loss increased already to 5 billion. Well, that’s more than their […]

What are the gold price and fundamentals telling us this week?

We had a choppy week in the gold price and silver price. The gold price closed the week at $ 1579 and € 1222. That’s a decline of some 3.5% compared to one week ago. The silver price ended the week under 30 US dollar for the first time since the beginning of 2012, closing at $ 28.89 and € 22.36. That’s some 6% lower than a week earlier. Mainly in the first half of the week, we saw a substantial decrease of  the gold and silver prices; the gold shares have been hit even harder. Let’s try to find a reasonable explanation for this decline. Given the price action, one […]

Smart money is buying gold today, an excellent buy signal

What are the real buy signals you need to look for in a long term bull market ? We are not talking about some news items or articles in the mainstream media channels, neither some “investment advice” from banks. They all have their own interest as they to come out with their advice. Media have advertisers which they need to pamper in order to secure their revenues, banks maybe need to sell some funds or related financial products, etc. By contrast, we strongly believe that you need to watch what the real and independant experts are telling and what they are doing with their own money. So let’s have a […]

Could we return to a Gold Standard ?

John Butler, author of the new book “The Golden Revolution”, provides an answer to the question if we could return to a Gold Standard. His answer to that question is clearly “yes”; he  thinks that a Gold Standard could be very well in the cards, even remarkably fast. The implications on the gold price would be remarkable as well, as explained below. Mr Butler explains that his view is based on today’s economic situation. In particular, two economic facts could very well lead to a situation with the gold standard as an outcome. In particular, he mentions the decline of the US economy over the past years as well as the […]

This week’s price of gold and silver: flat prices but high volatility

Gold finished the week $ 17 an ounce lower (which is a 1.5% change compared to the closing of the week before), while silver rose 15 cents. Both markets ended the week rather flat. We saw low trading volume in bullion during the week, as reported by physical gold and silver traders. One of the reasons – but surely not the only one – is that India is preparing one of their big festivals in two weeks, which should result in a higher demand during next week. Because of the thinly traded market, the price volatility was high. Typically, because of low volume, any larger order can move the price […]

Gold and Silver Stocks are currently deeply undervalued, is this a once in a lifetime buying opportunity?

Gold and Silver Stocks are currently deeply undervalued, is this a once in a lifetime buying opportunity?

A lot has been written lately about the undervaluation of the Gold & Silver mining stocks. One has not to look further than the charts of the major gold & silver indexes like the XAU, HUI or GDX,  and compare them with the broad market indexes like Dow Jones Index or S&P 500 in the US or similar indexes worldwide. The picture becomes even worse when looking at the junior mining companies in the GDXJ. It seems like the gold & silver mining sector missed the rally of Q1 2012. One could ask himself how that’s possible, given the good to outstanding results that a lot of mining companies reported […]

Is this the best time to buy gold or silver?

David Morgan, editor of the Morgan Report (a highly recommended newsletter), gives his view on Fox Business on the question if this is the best time to buy gold. Personally, we think David Morgan is one of the leaders with a very high accuracy on predicting gold and silver price movements. Does David Morgan think if the price of gold and silver have peaked ? Well, he agrees that we saw peaks in 2011 ($ 1,900 was September’s peak in the gold price while the silver price peaked at almost $ 50 in April). We are in a long consolidation, where even some bulls are starting to get worn out. But […]
