Technical Picture In Precious Metals And Miners Based On Andrews Pitchforks

Technical Picture In Precious Metals And Miners Based On Andrews Pitchforks

The precious metals and the mining stocks remain in a long-term downtrend. We may be seeing the beginning of a new bull phase but caution is warranted. The sector became overbought in recent weeks and we are seeing a pullback. Price will show us where it wants to go next as the current decline plays out and finds support. If you are accumulating on weakness stick with the relative strength leaders.

GLD and SLV Technical Picture for November 2014

GLD and SLV Technical Picture for November 2014

The GLD surged almost 3% on Friday, plunged over 2% on Monday and advanced 1.43% on Tuesday. There may be some support in the 110 area and the ETF is still quite oversold, but the bigger trend is down and this is the dominant force. I will leave first resistance in the 115 area

Q&A: How Are Authorized Participants Shorting SLV Shares?

Q&A: How Are Authorized Participants Shorting SLV Shares?

In Ed Steer’s daily gold and silver newsletter, one of the readers asked the following obvious but important question: “Please explain in detail how “authorized participants are shorting SLV shares in lieu of depositing the metal.” I do not understand how selling something you do not have makes up for silver that is supposed to be deposited.”

Precious Metals Complex Flashing Buy Signal

Precious Metals Complex Flashing Buy Signal

The XAU, gold, and silver look like they have bottomed. Asian demand is strong, and we have been assured by central banks that they will devalue their currencies to create inflation. Gold, silver, and their stocks will benefit.

Placeholder Gold vs Physical Gold – Spot The Massive Disparity

Placeholder Gold vs Physical Gold – Spot The Massive Disparity

The following is an excerpt from Grant Williams his latest report, in particular his analysis on the gold market: East vs West, physical gold vs “placeholder” gold. A massive disparity in appetite for “placeholder gold” is just one side of the coin, however; and India is just one of the Eastern countries that has been soaking up copious amounts of physical gold in recent months.

SLV Shows A Bullish Divergence

SLV Shows A Bullish Divergence

You have to realize how crazy-anomalous 2013 has been. Melting-up stock markets breeding euphoria are very rare, only seen at the ends of major bull markets. Stock euphoria diverting capital away from all other asset classes is equally as rare. But if you’d told me how 2013 would play out in the stock markets, GLD, and gold, but said SLV would ignore the carnage, I would have thought that was utterly impossible.

SLV ETF Adds 571 Tonnes Of Physical Silver To Its Holdings

Earlier this week, BlackRock reported that they added 571.63 tonnes of new physical silver backing to their popular silver ETF iShares Silver Trust (SLV). That is the largest one day addition since December 31, 2007. The bullion is held by the trust’s custodian in London. No explanation was given and experts do not real see the reasons for this important addition.

Silver ETF Impact

Silver ETF Impact

Silver is no doubt tiny on the grand commodities scale. But its attractiveness, spearheaded by a 1000%+ bull-to-date gain to its latest high, has spawned a wide range of products for investors to partake in. And one of the most unique and powerful is the SLV iShares Silver Trust ETF. This ETF’s objective is quite simple, to mirror the price of silver (minus a small management fee of course). But while simple in its objective, two unique traits have allowed SLV to take the silver market by storm. First is SLV offers a bridge for stock-market capital to track the price movements of a high-flying commodity, which historically had only […]

4 Facts Every GLD Investor Must Know

Without any doubt, the amounts invested in the Gold ETF “GLD” are enormous. The ETF lowered the barriers for most investors to profit from gold’s long term bull market. For institutional investors, GLD became one of the easiest ways to invest in the rise of the price of gold, as they can’t easily buy physical gold. However investing in an ETF like GLD or SLV carries inherent risks, the most important one being the failure to fully back the shares with physical gold. This means that in a worst case scenario, which is not unlikely given the instability of the world economy, an investor could end up holding only paper. The […]

Look For The Silver Lining: Silver Swan Ready For Takeoff

Look For The Silver Lining: Silver Swan Ready For Takeoff

An old melody advises us to look for the silver lining whenever dark clouds appear in the blue.  There is economic and political upheaval all over the world, especially in the South China Seas.  This may directly affect the world’s supply of industrial metals such as graphite, rare earths, molybdenum and tungsten. Today we direct our attention to an area where silver is shining.  Poor man’s gold may come into prominence shortly and provide our subscribers with possible profits. The silver battlefield is filled with bulls and bears fighting for dominance.  Recently, the poor man’s gold has dropped to the $26 area.  The struggle continues between the opposing sides.  The […]

Silver Suffers The Most From Bernanke And What Is Next

While the exchange traded funds for gold (NYSEARCA: GLD TRADING –  GLD QUOTE) and copper (NYSEARCA: JJC) fell today due to investors expressing disappoint at the modest response of the Federal Reserve to declining economic growth, it was silver (NYSEARCA: SLV Trading, SLV Quote) that was off the most. SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) fell in trading today by 0.89%.    IPath Dow Jones Copper (JJC) dropped 1.89%.  Plunging the deepest was iShares Silver Trust (SLV), off by 2.14%. Traders were hoping for more aggressive action by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.  But that will not come until after the November elections in the United States.  Remember that Quantitative Easing 2 did not begin until November 2010, […]

The Next Major Move in Precious Metals Is Close

The Next Major Move in Precious Metals Is Close

After making new highs about a year ago we have seen Silver and Gold consolidate for roughly the last twelve months.  Technically, it would typically be a bullish scenario with gold from the stand point that the last 12 months’ price action was a sideways consolidation in a bullish pennant formation.  However over the last year we have witnessed a series of lower highs and increasingly tested supports levels around $150 on GLD which raises caution. With the fed pulling any extensions on further quantitative easing in the form of QE3 or other programs, the bullish case has lately been criticised.  However I am still a firm believer that gold […]
